KELMSCOTT SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL
A new building located and designed to accommodate the introduction of year seven students into high school, with a built form that references the Darling Ranges visible to the east.
The Kelmscott Year 7 Building is located at the eastern edge of the site some distance from the rest of the school at the back of a carpark.
While somewhat removed from the rest of the school, the Year 7 building is visible from the street, and in response to this site condition a bold entry statement addressing the street was introduced.
This serves to extend a welcome to new students, provide a sense of place, and underscore the importance of this programme for the future of education in Western Australia.
